If you think the new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is potent enough with its supercharged 6.2L V8 engine giving out 580 horsepower with a torque of 556 pound-feet torque, the tuning company Hennessey Performance Engineering thinks otherwise. HPE just launched their upgrade kits for the supercar of Chevrolet springing the output up to 1,021 horsepower.
The tuning kit called HPE1000 Twin-Turbo is reported to give out 1,021 HP at around 6,400 rpm. The internals of the supercar has been done with the installation of the 7.0L LSX engine, low-compression pistons, camshaft, forged steel crank, cylinder heads that are high flow, and improved fuel system that gets new injectors.
The turbo system with dual wastegates, air-to-air intercooler, boost controller, and redone exhaust system made of stainless steel brings the whole setup to another level. The powerful engine is paired with a manual gearbox with dual friction clutch.
This tuned Camaros will also get an exterior badging to boast the HPE1000 kit, serial numbers on the dash, engine plaques, and HPE designed headrests and floor mats.
If you think 1,021 HP is too much, Hennessey will also offer a milder but very potent 800 HP, 700 HP, 650 HP, and 600 HP variants.
You can order the Hennessey tuned Camaro ZL1 before the end of 2011. Each car will come with a 12,000 mile warranty for a year.

Buying a car is a major investment; one way that you can lower the cost is to buy a used car. There are actually quite a few good reasons to buy used, the biggest is the massive depreciation that new cars take as soon as they are driven off the lot. The process of buying a used car is pretty simple but t there are some things to watch out for.
The first thing that you have to do when you are buying a used car is to figure out how much you can afford to spend. This should be fairly easy if you are planning to pay cash for your car, a little bit trickier if you are going to be financing. If you are paying cash you can just look at how much money you have available. If you are planning to finance the car you will need to determine how much you can afford to pay each month and then work out what this works out to as a purchase price, there are plenty of online calculators to help you do this.
The next step in buying a used car is to decide what kind of car you want. You will want to start with a general idea, do you want a sports car or a family car for example and then narrow it down from there. You are going to want to do research on the cars that you are considering. There are lots of places that you can find out which cars are more reliable and what the approximate value should be. One thing to keep in mind at this point is that some cars have a reputation for being highly desirable used cars. In general you will have to pay extra for these so you may be able to get a better deal by going with one of the many perfectly good cars that doesn’t have the same reputation.
Electric cars have been around for years, in fact that are as old as the car itself. Back in the early days of car design there was a lot of debate over the best way to power a car and many people tried electricity. Eventually the internal combustion engine would win out but the electric car is now making a comeback.
The basic technology behind electric vehicles has been around for well over a hundred years. Electric vehicles run on a fairly simple electric motor. There are a lot of advantages to using an electric motor; the biggest of these is that there are fewer moving parts than there are on an internal combustion engine. That means that it is far less likely to break. The other obvious advantage is that by not having to use an internal combustion engine there are no green house gases emitted, at least not by the motor itself. Pollution caused by powering the electric motor is another matter.
Although the idea of an electric motor is fairly simple the challenge is in supplying power to the motor. The earliest attempts at this involved using batteries to hold an electrical charge that could power the motor. This works up to a point but the batteries have a very short lifespan which limits how far you can drive. The batteries that are currently being used can be recharged but this is time consuming. The other problem with batteries is that they are heavy and bulky which makes it necessary to design the car around them. There has been considerable progress at developing batteries that hold a charge that allows for long distance driving and at reducing the size. Nevertheless there is still a fairly long way to go before this becomes a practical option.
The latest reports state that Toyota is no longer the most valuable car brand. Someone else took the spot, and the new reigning car brand is BMW. This is based on a market study done by Millward Brown. The survey BrandZ Top 100 also stated that Volkswagen and Ford managed to improve their brand values.
Peter Walshe, the President of Millward Brown, noted that Toyota’s decline in brand ranking was largely due to the huge recall crisis this year. Walshe insists, though, that Toyota is a powerful brand, and most strong brands manage to recover from even the biggest crises.
All isn’t exactly well with the leading car brand BMW. While the brand did take the top spot, the same study also indicated that BMW decreased its brand value by 9%. Toyota’s recall crisis just put the brand far behind with a 27% brand value decline. While BMW was able to make the $21.8 billion sales mark, Toyota, due to the recalls, fell far behind the figures.
